Making a Difference Beyond Recruitment

When we established Recruit with Purpose, we wanted its impact on Social Housing to be far greater than just recruitment services.

Our Share with Purpose series aims to share innovation across the social housing sector and has reached over 15,000 people so far. You can read from our contributors here.

We also wanted to help prevent homelessness as we have partnered with 1625 Independent People Charity. 1625 Independent People seek to prevent homelessness, keep young people safe and support them to build on their strengths to be the best they can be.

Insights and Updates from the Housing Sector

Recruit with Purpose has partnered with 1625 Independent People as its charity partner for 2025. 1625 Independent People seek to prevent homelessness, keep young people safe and support them to build on their strengths to be the best they can be.

We aim to support 1625 Independent People through voluntary skills workshops, charitable donations, help them with reach and marketing and support with Trustee board recruitment at no cost.

About 1625

Each year 1625 Independent People (1625) supports 1,600 young people aged 16-25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in Bristol and the South West. For 40 years they’ve provided safe housing and practical and emotional support to some of the region’s most vulnerable young people, including care-experienced young people, custody leavers, refugees and unaccompanied asylum-seeking children.

Their mission is to prevent homelessness, keep young people safe and support them to be the best they can be. They nurture their skills, strengths and talents to ensure vulnerable young people can thrive as independent adults.

They provide holistic support enabling young people to have a safe, affordable home, build healthy relationships, improve their health, develop independent living skills and access good quality jobs, education and training. Their services are designed to

Prevent homelessness: supporting young people to remain at home, where it’s safe to do so.

House: keeping young people safe and secure through a range of supported accommodation and move-on properties.

Develop: giving every young person a key worker to support them to move towards independence alongside specialist support with mental health, leaving care, domestic and sexual violence and reducing reoffending.

Progress: supporting young people into education, employment and training (EET).

Move on: empowering young people to live independently.

Most young people they support have experienced childhood trauma. Their staff are trained to provide trauma-informed, non-judgmental support that enables young people to build independence safely and successfully. Building healthy relationships based on trust, mutual respect and dignity is the key tool for change.

At Recruit with Purpose, we are hugely passionate about the value of innovation in Social Housing, and we recognise the incredible talent and dedication within the sector.

Across the UK, individuals and teams are crafting innovative solutions to improve the lives of thousands of tenants. Yet, too often, these ideas remain within closed circles, limiting their impact.

That’s why we launched Share with Purpose, a blog series dedicated to showcasing the inspiring projects and initiatives transforming communities across Technology, Data & Transformation in Social Housing. We speak with innovators across the sector and share their successes as far and wide as we can.
